
CAF Champions League Permutations
With the final round of both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup group games on this weekend, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has made clear the permutations for the reaching the last eight.
As stipulated in Article III of the regulations for the Total CAF Champions League 2017 and Total CAF Confederation Cup, the qualification format for the quarter finals is explained below;
Article III
20. In case of equality of points between two teams at the end of the group matches, the teams will be using the following criteria as per the order listed below:
20.1 The greatest number of points obtained in the matches between the concerned teams concerned.
20.2. The best goal difference in the matches between the concerned teams.
20.3. The greatest number of scored goals in the away matches between the concerned teams.
20.4. The goal difference from all the matches played in the group.
20.5. The greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
20.6. A draw will be conducted by the Interclubs Committee.
21. In case of a tie between more than two teams at the end of the group matches, the teams will be using the following criteria as per the order listed below:
21.1 The greatest number of points obtained in the matches between the concerned teams;
21.2 The best goal difference in the matches between the concerned teams.
21.3 The greatest number of goals scored in the matches between the concerned teams.
21.4 The greatest number of away goals scored in the matches between the concerned teams.
21.5 If, after applying criteria 21.1 to 21.4, two teams are still tied, the criteria from
21.1 to 21.4 are applied to games played between the two teams in question in order to determine the final ranking of the two teams. If this procedure does not determine the standing of the teams, the criteria 21.6 to 21.9 shall be applied in the listed order.
21.6 The greatest goal difference in all group matches.
21.7 The greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
21.8 The greatest number of away goals scored in all group matches.
21.9 A draw will be conducted by the Interclub Committee.
KCCA are Uganda’s only club remaining on the continent and despite being in pole position in Group A of the Confederation Cup, they may end up being affected by the Head to head record against FUS Rabat in case they lose in Tunis and the Moroccan side win at home to Rivers United.
