Bullish Ndoro Wants A TKO

ON-FIRE Zimbabwe international striker Tendai Ndoro is confident his club Orlando Pirates will lift the 2016 Telkom Knockout Cup after the Buccaneers were drawn against Kuda Mahachi’s Golden Arrows in the first round.

Pirates will face Golden Arrows on October 19.

Having missed out on the MTN8 title, Orlando Pirates have shifted their focus to the Telkom Knockout Cup and the 28-year-old Ndoro will undoubtedly be key to the Soweto giants’ quest for more glory.

Ndoro, who has enjoyed a bright start to the season, heaped praises on coach Muhsin Ertugral and believes the Turk will guide Pirates to TKO glory.

“Under his (Ertugral’s) influence, we’ll lift this trophy,” Ndoro told Goal.com.

The former Chicken Inn striker, who won the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Golden Boot with 18 goals in 2013, has had a blistering start to the 2016/2017 ABSA Premiership.

He scored five goals in his club’s opening two games and while the Sea Robbers’ form has dipped since, Ndoro remains confident.

“The club is celebrating 80 years so we have to win something for the team. We lost the MTN8‚ but we need to fight for the last three trophies that are there.

“He [Ertugral] is a great coach. We are lucky to have such a quality coach. People won’t understand how tactical he is‚ but as players‚ we know what quality he brings in our team,” he said.

The Buccaneers were founded in 1937 and will next year celebrate 80 years of existence with the club making it clear at the start of the 2016-17 Premier Soccer League season that they would like nothing more than to celebrate the milestone with silverware.

Pirates will face Golden Arrows in the opening round of the TKO, a team the club have already trumped this season.

“It [the win] will boost our confidence‚ but we want to add to what we did in the last game," Ndoro told Goal.com.

"It’s a good fixture‚ we are ready for it. We know what is at stake.

“Arrows will come prepared‚ it will be on us to work extra hard compared to the 3-1 game," he concluded.
