Bulawayo City has moved in swiftly to douse the flames created by the alleged match fixing scam involving their assistant coach Farai Mujokoro by condemning the act.  Bulawayo City vice Chairman Zenzo Moyo told SportsZone that his club was a professional entity which does not tolerate match fixing and would allow the authorities to carry out their investigations without interference.

“As a club we don’t tolerate match fixing. Football has to be the winner at the end of the day. We will allow the authorities to conduct their investigations,” said Moyo.

Mujokoro who is Coach Philani Ncube’s assistant, is accused of trying to bribe Border Strikers goalkeeper Talent Sande to concede goals in Wednesday’s match. Allegations are that Mujokoro called Sande enticing him with $300 bait to ship in goals so that Bulawayo City could win the game by a number of goals. However Sande alerted his treasurer at the club Godfrey Jera who set a trap for Mujokoro.  Jera said they were making a formal complaint as a club over the incident.

“Talent alerted me that there was something going on. He told me that Mujokoro called him telling him that they would give him $300 and will top up after the match.

“He (Mujokoro) told Sunday to send his wife to collect the money so I just picked up some lady in the street to go collect the money and she was given the money by some guy send by Mujokoro. So I am meeting my chairman so that we make a report,” said Jera.

The allegations also implicate head coach Ncube as he is mentioned in the conversations between Sande and Mujokoro.

The number used in the alleged whatsapp conversation indeed belongs to Mujokoro and went unanswered when called after the allegations surfaced.

Bulawayo City went on to win the tainted match 1-0 courtesy of an Emmanuel Mandiranga strike.
