Bosso v DeMbare Saga: Referees Committee To get Better Footage From SuperSport
The Zifa Referees Committee has requested better footage from SuperSport before making a conclusion on whether under fire assistant referee Thomas Kusosa made a terrible blunder that led to the abandonment of the blockbuster clash between Highlanders and Dynamos last Sunday.
The match was abandoned at 1-1 in the 42nd minute when some Bosso hooligans – who felt Kusosa should have flagged DeMbare scorer Christian Ntouba Epoupa for offside – refused to let the assistant referee continue with his duties.
“We have requested a better footage from SuperSport. Once we get that, then we review the decision and see whether the assistant referee made a wrong call or a correct one,” Referees Committee boss Gladmore Muzambi told The Herald.
“The one (video) that is circulating on social media doesn’t give us a clearer view of whether the ball deflected from the defending player or whether the defender deliberately played the ball,” he said.
If the video proves that Bosso defender made a deliberate attempt to play the ball which later strayed into the path of Epoupa, then Kusosa would have been right after all.
If the block is given as a deflection, then Epoupa’s goal should have been disallowed.
Highlanders have since been dragged for the PSL disciplinary hearing on Tuesday next week amid speculation that Dynamos will get three points and three goals from the ruling.
