Border Strikers Seek First Away Victory

Border Strikers forward Clever Mutendebvure says his team is targeting Chapungu for their first away victory when the two teams clash at Ascot stadium on Saturday.

Mutendebvure who was snatched from Central Soccer League first division side ZRP Beitbridge in July said Border Strikers are hoping to build from the momentum they have after beating Ngezi Platinum 2-0 at Dulivhadzimu stadium last weekend.

“The victory against Ngezi Platinum came at a crucial time for us when we needed something to lift our confidence. We played well in that game and we want to continue with that form when momentum is still on our side,” said Mutendebvure.

“We are still to win a game away from home and we want to start winning against Chapungu. In the previous matches we have posted crucial wins at home including the famous 2-1 victory over Dynamos. We might be down there but we still believe and have faith that if we continue winning our matches we might survive relegation,” he added.

Border Strikers who anchor the log standings with 13 points from 20 games have failed to build from their home form, losing all their away matches.

Their best away result was a 1-1 draw against How Mine a Luveve Stadium.
