Border Strikers Relegated

BORDER STRIKERS were relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after they fell to a 0-2 defeat against fellow debutants  Mutare City Rovers on Saturday.

Two first half goals from Steven Sibanda who scored after just 60 seconds and Chasten Ngondonga in the 22nd minute condemned Luke Masomere’s Border Strikers back to the unfashionable world of Division One football.

The Beitbridge based team has 14 points, 11 behind Mutare City Rovers who occupy 14th place on the log with three rounds of action left.

In Bulawayo, Tsholotsho continued with their fight against the dreaded chop when they beat Chapungu 2-1 at Luveve.

The victory pushed them to 23 points, two behind Mutare City Rovers.

Bruno Madanhire and Rodick Mufudza were on target for Tsholotsho while Maxwell Mavuto scored for the visitors.

Defending champions Chicken Inn enhanced their otherwise slim chances of finishing in the top four with a 2-0 win over Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa.

Veteran Obadiah Tarumbwa and Ishmael Lawe were on target for the Gamecocks.

The defending champions are now on 38 points and three behind fourth placed ZPC Kariba.
