Blow For Caps United Fans As Club Hike Gate Charges
CAPS United have hiked gate charges for their crunch CAF Champions League first round second leg match against TP Mazembe at the National Sports on Sunday, despite pleas by their multitudes of fans to have the entry charges reduced.
The cheapest ticket on Sunday will cost $5 up from the usual $3, VIP $20 and VVIP $50 according to a circular availed by Caps United Wednesday afternoon.
Some analysts were thinking Caps United would reduce the cheapest ticket to a dollar, arguing the move would attract a bumper crowd on Sunday.
Makepekepe carry a 1-1 draw into the second leg and will qualify for the mini league phase with either a victory or a 0-0 draw.
And they need a vociferous crowd to back them.
Caps United justified the increase in a letter circulated Wednesday afternoon.
“We would like to advise the nation and our beloved fans as well as our valued stakeholders that the CAF Champions League tournament is involving substantial amounts of costs which are far beyond the club’s reach and capability,” wrote Caps United.
