Blessing On Golden Boot Award

LEADING goal scorer, Blessing Majarira, is convinced the Northern Region Soccer League Golden Boot Award winner will hail from championship winning Herentals Football Club.

Blessing, on 13 goals, made the remarks after his brother Archmore closed in on him after scoring in Herentals’ two-all home draw with Banket United to move on to 11 goals.

Only two goals now separate the Majarira brothers with five games left till the season ends while Ngezi Platinum Under-19 striker Simbarashe Domingo is on 10 goals.

“This year it’s tight but we can get more goals. The top goal scorer must come from us, Herentals,” Blessing told Sportszone.co.zw.

Although the rest of the top 10 list remain unchanged, Blessing believes teammate Denzel Chimwemwe, on eight goals, will find his scoring boots to join him and Archmore in what will be a triple chase for the Golden Boot.

“Who is going to win it it’s me or anyone from Herentals. I am on 13 goals, Archmore now has 11 and Denzel is on eight but he can come up. If you look we are three from Herentals so it’s between us. There is one who will take it.”

Blessing is the hold the Golden Boot after his 21 goals in 2016. The striker, however, has a gutsy feeling that he will retain the award this year again.

“There (chances) are still high so I have to score more. So far it’s not yet clear but I am looking forward to winning it and breaking the records as a team this season,” he said.
