
Billiat Fires Sundowns To First League Win
RED HOT Mamelodi Sundowns and Warriors striker scored his first goal of the 2016/2017 ABSA Premiership season when the Brazilians beat George Chigova’s Polokwane City 2-0 on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old Billiat came on as a 50th minute substitute and double Sundowns’ lead 31 minutes later when he fired past Chigova.
Man of the Match Percy Tau got the other goal for Amasandawana who registered their first league win of the season.
Billiat is six behind the league’s top goal scorer and fellow Zimbabwean Tendai Ndoro who notched up his seventh albeit in Orlando Pirates’ 1-6 humiliating defeat against SuperSport United on Tuesday night.
Charlton Mashumba has scored two for Highlands Park who are also home to former Warriors keeper Tapuwa Kapini and former Dynamos captain Augustine Mbara.
Other Zimbabweans who have gotten off the mark in the South African ABSA Premiership are Willard Katsande (Kaizer Chiefs), Michelle Katsvairo (Kaizer Chiefs), Marshal Munetsi (Baroka FC), Cuthbert Malajila (Bidvest Wits), Eric Chipeta (Ajax Cape Town), Evans Rusike (Maritzburg) and Kingstone Nkata (SuperSport United).
They all have a goal each.
Malajila’s Wits lead the ABSA Premiership race with 16 points, a point above Nkatha’s SuperSport United.
Kaizer Chiefs are third with 15 points while Chipeta’s Ajax Cape Town anchor the 16-team table with just three points in eight matches.
