Barbaric Acts at Mandava Stadium
The blockbuster clash between FC Platinum and Highlanders at Mandava stadium on Sunday was a bad advertisement for local football which was being beamed live to the world on Supersport television channel 9 with both sets of teams taking football back to the dark ages with barbaric acts.
First it was the ever zealous FC Platinum security personnel in apparent belief in juju denying Highlanders team bus entry into the stadium as they had arrived first before the home team.
The FC Platinum security who have a penchant of harassing visitors at the gates despite their team priding itself as one of the most professional run clubs in the country, were captured on camera tussling with the Highlanders marshals at the main gate.
During the 2013 season the rowdy FC Platinum marshals harassed the late former Motor Action owner Eric Rosen denying him entry into the VIP enclosure.
In 2014 the marshals also harassed then Premier Soccer League vice president Peter Dube when Highlanders visited Mandava stadium.
During the match, it was time for Highlanders fans turn to soil the image of local football when they went berserk throwing missiles at FC Platinum fans and in the process injuring Platinum coach Norman Mapeza who was struck by a rock on the shoulder.
