Ariel On Penatly Save

Highlanders’ goal-keeper Ariel Sibanda says he has been working on saving penalty-kicks at training after his stop secured Bosso’s win over

Harare City in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Rufaro on Thursday.

With Highlanders leading 1-0 after an Allan Gahadzikwa header, Harare City were awarded a penalty when Rusape referee Brighton Chimene adjudged that Bosso skipper Eric Mudzingwa had handled the ball.

City’s William Madondo stepped up to take the spot kick and fired to the right corner but an agile Sibanda hauled himself to save the shot.

“It’s all about training, we have been doing them (penalties) at training even when we are not playing a cup game.

“It helps me a lot and the trick is patience, you just don’t dive,” said Sibanda.

The win saw Bosso move to 44 points, four behind log leaders FC Platinum with six rounds of action left.

But Sibanda said there is no title talk yet in their camp.

“It’s too early to talk of the title, but we are focusing on each game,” said Sibanda.

Highlanders will take on Ngezi Platinum Stars at Barbourfields on Sunday in their next match.
