
Ariel Named Highlanders Player Of The Year
Ariel Sibanda was on Friday night voted Highlanders best player for the 2016 season at a glittering ceremony in Bulawayo.
Sibanda who was impressive in between the goals beat favourites Rahman Kutsanzira and Peter Muduhwa who also got their own personal awards.
Kutsanzira who was heavily tipped for the player of the season award, got the players player of the year accolade while Muduhwa who was among the best national 11 players was named the most improved player.
Prince Dube who is away with the national 20 at the Cosafa Cup was the most promising player rightback Tendai Ngulube was given the most disciplined player award.
Ray Lunga, the son to Gift Lunga was voted the most promising player at the developmental side Bosso @ 90.
Vice Captain Eric Mudzingwa went away with the longest serving player.
Midfielder Simon Munawa who also had a good show this season was named the most consistent player.
Bruce Kangwa who left the country for Tanzania way back in August walked away with the Golden Boot award after banging in 7 goals.
The club also rewarded their fans for rallying behind the team with Mandlenkosi Gama being named the male supporter of the year while Khetha Marizani was the female supporter of the year..
Highlanders finished third this season and this was their first awards ceremony in four years.
The last player to win was Masimba Mambare before he switched to Dynamos.
