Another Match To be Resumed In Division One

ON a day the Premier Soccer League ruled that Dynamos and Chapungu should resume their abandoned match, the Eastern Region Division One followed suit by ordering Mucheke Pirates and Mutare City to complete their abandoned Match Day 10 game.

The only difference between the two cases is that the Eastern Region will foot the bills for the match while indications are that Dynamos will bear the costs for a second trip Gweru.

Mucheke and Mutare will play the remaining 22 minutes at Mucheke in Masvingo this Sunday.

The match was abandoned owing to bad light after a late, 1610 hours, kick off caused by Mucheke Pirates’ failure to produce player licenses upon inspection.

With Mucheke Pirates leading 2-1, City Rovers claimed it was dark and could no longer see the ball resulting in the referee abandoning the game.

“The board said the game must be continued so they will play the last 20 to 22 minutes remaining,” Eastern Region board member competitions, Patient Dube, told H-Metro.

“The game will be at Mucheke on Sunday at 3pm. The same players and referees will be involved in that game and the region will be catering for everything.”

In assessment of this case, the Eastern Region board found both teams guilty of breaching rules and regulations of the league.

“The board finalised that both teams were found wrong. Mucheke Pirates didn’t have a team list and that delayed the match which started a bit late.

“Mucheke Pirates were leading 2-1 then Mutare City because of bad light could not continue with the game. Mutare City also employed delaying tactics for the game to be abandoned,” he said.
