All Platinum Final.... As Ndiraya Calls For Respect
Ngezi Platinum Stars savoured victory with revenge when they stormed into the Chibuku Super Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Highlanders at Barbourfields.
The victory was a sweet revenge for Ngezi who lost to Highlanders in the league a few weeks ago through a last minute penalty and their coach Tonderai Ndiraya said the debutants need respect after a remarkable accomplishment in their first year in the premiership.
"It's a huge achievement for a club that is in its first year in the top flight league to come here and beat Highlanders at Barbourfields stadium. For this we deserve respect because this remarkable," said Ndiraya.
"The boys worked very well for this result. we really deserved it because we controlled the proceedings for the better part of the game. we also defended resolutely when they tried to come at us. when they took off their right back (Tendai Ngulube), we introduced speedy Donald Teguru to press them hard using that wing. we should have at least got another goal from that."
Ngezi were confident on the ball dominating the early stages of both halves and were provided with a golden opportunity when Peter Muduhwa handled inside the box in the 63rd minute.
Captain Liberty Chakoroma placed a firm shot to his left beyond a diving Ariel Sibanda.
Ngezi Platinum repelled a late surge from Highlanders to book an all Platinum final with FC Platinum on November 5 at avenue still to be announced.
