Ali Sadiki Speaks On Takunda
So who is the best of the Sadiki brothers?
Sadiki brothers Issa, Ali and Takunda
TP MAZEMBE winger Ali Sadiki believes his younger brother Takunda has what it takes to rise and become a big player for Dynamos.
Takunda scored his first goal for DeMbare in their 2-0 win over Tsholotsho at Rufaro on Wednesday.
He has somehow established himself as a regular, with indication he is one of Lloyd Mutasa’s most effective midfielders.
Former Gunners and FC Platinum star, Ali, is the most popular of the Sadiki brothers.
Yesterday he talked about Takunda, his other bothers and how football runs in their blood as a family.
“For Takunda it was his dream to play for a big team so I guess Dynamos is one of them. Takunda is a good player with too much technique and he plays simple football. I really like that about him and believes he has a future,” Sadiki said.
Ali also has another young brother Issa who is with the FC Platinum juniors.
“Issa and Takunda are good players but still developing. Give them some time and they will be great players.
“I don’t have much to say about my two younger brothers because they are still to prove. I don’t want to confuse them. lssa can dribble and he is confident because he knows he is good. He can pass the ball well. He knows all my moves and I can see he is improving them. lssa is playing for FC Platinum Division one and I hope next year he will be in the PSL at FC Platinum or any other club,” said Ali.
Although Takunda is the only one on the limelight in the domestic league, Ali has others brothers still in the thick of things or some who have once been on the limelight, though with different surnames.
“I cannot talk about the three of us only because I had a brother Mussa Ali Sadiki who played for Kambuzuma, Noel Kapini who played for Buymore, Itai Kapini who even played for Dynamos and Aces, Tapuwa Kapini and Brian Mapfumo.”
The TP Mazembe star has a perception about all his brothers and he ranks Tapuwa Kapini as the all time great. He knows their strengths and their weaknesses.
“Tapuwa is at the top because he played on a higher level of the game and showed that he can do it. Sometimes he just gets carried away because he loves the game.
“But I think he has a strong mind because even if he makes a mistake he can come again next game and be the man of the match,” said Ali.
On Itai Kapini, he said: “He was a good midfielder and a leader. He captained Aces. He was not so friendly to his teammates but his strength was that he could cover a lot of ground and he was skillful.”
And then there was the striker of the family.
“Mussa Ali Sadiki was a strong striker with power and he knew how to make his runs. He was not that confident and his strength was on holding on to the ball and making them run upfront.”
Former Monoz midfielder Brian Mapfumo also falls in the same family.
“He is a good player whenever he is playing. He is calm and he played for the national team and he can read the game very well. Brian’s weakness is that he gets upset fast and his strength is that he can shoot the ball well,” said Ali.
“Noel Kapini was good on scoring and a hardworking player. He could dribble three or four players. His weakness was that he was afraid of joining big teams. He was scared of challenges that is why he played in the league for a short period of time.”
Ali on the other hand has seen it all – with the national team, in the CAF Champions league and with one of Africa’s biggest clubs, TP Mazembe.
Asked on his future, he said: “I don’t know but what I know is God has a plan for me.”
On Saturday one of the Sadiki bothers Takunda looks set to be in thick of things again, against Ali’s former team FC Platinum.
After his Wednesday exploits, Takunda feels the sky is the limit.
“The pressure was there but it is the coaches that gave us confidence and said guys lets be humble and go and play football. They told us the goals will come and the points will come,” Takunda told SportsZone.
“I’m happy and I want to continue doing well. I’m looking forward to the game against FC Platinum over the weekend and if I’m selected I would want to help the team again. I started playing in July and if I can score as many goals as possible in the last matches, I can start 2017 well,” he said.
