Akbay Wants Two Strikers, Mutuma Linked With Bosso
HIGHLANDERS coach Erol Akbay has not made it secret that he requires two capable strikers if Bosso are to mount a strong 2017 season campaign and former Dynamos gunman Roderick Mutuma is reportedly in Bulawayo seeking to fill one slot.
Akbay is geared for Bosso’s pre-season camp in South Africa where he hopes to adequately prepare his charges for the new challenge.
“We have some strikers but for the team to be really balanced, we need to have more who are really capable.
“You know that we lost Bruce Kangwa and Knox Mtizwa last year and things were never the same for us up to the end of the year. We need players that can score goals for us,” said Akbay.
“We have about two strikers we have been talking to. But we can’t reveal names at the moment as the talks are still on,” said Akbay.
Highlanders mounted a strong challenge for the title last year but fell short in the second half of the season.
They could not keep up with FC Platinum and eventual winners CAPS United as they could only manage a top four finish.
The Premiership giants have been in the shadow of teams like FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum in terms of signing players on demand, but they will still be expected to mount a strong challenge in 2017.
“At the moment we cannot say much. When were start serious business, I will then see the condition of the team.
“I’m sure when we go to South Africa; we will know what the situation is like. Obviously we would have wanted to add more players to the team but we are limited by resources,” he said.
