Akbay Wants Real King
KING Nadolo has been praised for his high tempo game but will need to improve on his passing accuracy if he is to earn a permanent starting XI place in Erol Akbay’s team.
Akbay told H-Metro yesterday that he was impressed by the talented midfielder when they put Bantu Rovers to the sword 2-1at Barbourfields on Saturday.
It was good reaction from the Premiership giants who had previously angered their coach against Harare City.
“If he plays like yesterday (Saturday), then he will play every game. It was great reaction from the boys after that Harare City game.
“Nadolo has always been a good player. He plays high tempo football at all times. We need that in the team but he has to improve his passing at all times,” Akbay said.
The midfielder has not been given a chance to start consistently in a team with the likes of Allen Gahadzikwa, Rahman Kutsanzira and Simon Munawa in midfielder.
Akbay admits Nadolo is young but still has a chance to stamp authority now.
“There is no doubt he is young. But the time for him is now; he has to rise in every game, just like he did against Bantu Rovers. That way we have no excuse to play him in the first eleven,” said Akbay.
The Dutch coach is a disciple of passing football and his team tends to get the better of opponents when it comes to the tempo.
Bosso seem to have mastered the art of when to reduce the pace and when to increase and suffocate the opponents.
“Unlike when we played Harare City, this time around we had a good first half and second half. They played good football all round.”
The win took Highlanders to 17 points in eight games. “We have lost a lot of ground in the other last two matches. But now we have to keep on winning our matches,” said Akbay.
