Ajax Cape Town Docked Points, Relegated For Fielding Ineligible Player Tendai Ndoro.
Ajax Cape Town have been relegated from the PSL after being docked points for fielding an ineligible player in Tendai Ndoro.
The South African Football Association announced the Urban Warriors have forfeited points from matches against Platinum Stars, Polokwane City and SuperSport United, meaning they have been demoted and Dikwena will now contest the promotion/relegation play-offs with Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos.
Ndoro's eligibility went before arbitration as he had played for three clubs this season, in contravention of FIFA rules.
SAFA head of legal Tebogo Motlanthe has confirmed to KickOff.com that Ajax has gone down, as Stars, Rise and Shine and Matsatsantsa – who all lodged a dispute before their respective fixtures – gain three points each.
Ajax have also been handed a R50 000 fine for each of the matches in which Ndoro played, while the Zimbabwean international has been handed a two-game ban.
With the PSL unavailable for comment at this stage, the exact ramifications for the relegation/promotion play-offs are unclear, given that Ajax were set to face Black Leopards in Thohoyandou on Wednesday.
It should also be noted that Ajax could still appeal the ruling with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
