A Quick Goal Will Do The Trick - Akbay

HIGHLANDERS coach Erol Akbay thinks a quick goal will do the trick for Bosso when they face Ngezi Platinum Stars – a team that Dutchman describes as solid – in the Chibuku Super Cup semi final at Barbourfields on Sunday.

With just a point separating them and log leaders Caps United, Highlanders are still in the hunt for a league and cup double  but Akbay is wary of the Ngezi Platinum hurdle in the semi final of the country’s premier knockout tournament.

The last time Bosso hosted Ngezi at BF, the Bulawayo giants required a late penalty to seal the league match 2-1 on September 25.

“I think Ngezi will play the same way they did when we met them at BF in a league match. They are a solid side that defends well and then try and hit you on the counter.

“I have respect for their coach Ndiraya,” said Akbay.

The Dutch master has been doing his homework and believes an early goal will deflate Ngezi Platinum in front of a powerful Bosso crowd.

“We have to score fast, that is the trick. We will see how we do it,” said Akbay.

Highlanders have all their artillery available ahead of this Chibuku Super Cup semi final whose winner will face either FC Platinum or Harare City who clash at Mandava in the other semi final on Saturday.

Bosso beat city rivals How Mine 4-3 on penalties in the quarterfinals while Ngezi Platinum Stars walloped Tsholotsho 4-1 in regulation time at the Baobab.
