35 Businessmen Fail To Raise $3k
IT never rains but pours for beleaguered former Premier Soccer League outfit Border Strikers.
Just a year after they were relegated from the Premiership, with one of the worst tallies for a season, Border Strikers have now been booted out of the Central Region Division One League.
The reason being that over 35 businessmen who claim to be sponsoring the Beitbridge based side have failed to raise $3 200 affiliation fees.
Border Strikers have also been failing to fulfil its fixtures.
“Things are bad in our camp and we are going back to the drawing board,” club chairman Mandla Combat Moyo said.
“Initially, we had agreed with the CSL to a payment plan of $500 per week in affiliation fees but we failed due to poor revenue in-flows.
“However, we are not losing hope yet, we are working on a comeback plan.”
Border Strikers were relegated from the PSL at the end of the 2016 season with a paltry 15 points, one of the worst tallies in the Premiership era.
